HSN 4819 and GST on corrugated packaging in India
Most corrugated boxes, mailer boxes and folding cartons sold in India are classified under HSN 4819 10 10 and currently attract 18% GST; PackWorks prices are exclusive of GST and the tax is itemised on your invoice with your GSTIN for input credit.

The short answer
Corrugated paperboard cartons, boxes and cases are generally HSN 4819 10 10. Plastic courier bags and BOPP tapes sit under different headings (typically 3923 and 3919). PackWorks prints the HSN on every product page and on the tax invoice.
This page is a buyer’s guide, not tax advice. Confirm the heading and rate with your CA — GST notifications change, and mixed consignments (boxes + tape + bags) can carry more than one HSN on the same invoice.
What you will see at PackWorks checkout
Catalogue prices are exclusive of GST so you can compare per-piece rates cleanly. At checkout we apply the product GST rate (18% on most corrugated lines), add shipping (also typically 18% GST), and generate a tax invoice with your legal name and GSTIN if you enter them.
| Line | Typical HSN | Typical GST |
|---|---|---|
| Corrugated shipping boxes, mailers, pizza boxes, cartons | 4819 10 10 | 18% |
| Plastic courier / consignment bags | 3923 | 18% |
| BOPP / packing tapes | 3919 | 18% |
| Thermal labels (paper) | 4821 | 18% |
Claiming input tax credit (ITC)
Registered businesses can usually claim ITC on packaging used to ship taxable goods, provided the invoice carries a valid GSTIN, HSN and tax break-up. Enter your GSTIN once in the customer portal; every later order reuses it.
Unregistered buyers still receive a tax invoice; they simply cannot claim ITC.
Why we never hide the tax
Inclusive pricing makes two packs look cheaper until the invoice arrives. Exclusive pricing plus a line-item GST column is how Indian B2B procurement actually compares vendors. If a GST rate on a SKU changes, we update the product page and the checkout calculator together.
