GST invoice and HSN for mixed packs (boxes + tape + bags)

When you buy boxes, courier bags and packing tape together, the PackWorks tax invoice should show separate HSN lines — typically 4819 for corrugated cartons, 3923 for plastic bags and 3919 for BOPP tape — usually each at 18% GST, with your GSTIN printed so you can claim ITC.

Why mixed carts confuse accounts teams

One shipment of “packaging” is not one HSN. Paperboard cartons, plastic film bags and adhesive tapes sit under different headings even when they arrive on the same transporter LR. Your books should follow the invoice lines, not the delivery photo.

Typical PackWorks split

Always trust the product page and the PDF invoice over a blog memory — notifications change.

ITC and checkout hygiene

Registered buyers enter legal name and GSTIN at checkout or in the portal. Claim ITC only on eligible business use with a valid invoice. Unregistered buyers still get a tax invoice but cannot claim credit. Shipping charges on the empty packaging delivery usually attract GST too — read the checkout breakdown.

  • Do not merge HSN codes manually in your ERP if the invoice splits them
  • Custom print usually inherits the carton HSN (still 4819 for corrugated)
  • This is a buyer’s guide, not tax advice — confirm edge cases with your CA

FAQ

Questions this guide answers

Can I get separate invoices per HSN?

Usually unnecessary — one tax invoice with multiple lines is standard. Ask support only if your ERP genuinely cannot import mixed HSN.

Do kraft and poly bags share HSN?

Not always. Plastic poly bags differ from paper bags — read each product page.

Is packaging always 18%?

Most PackWorks lines are 18% today. If a rate changes, checkout and the product page update together.
