Packaging for mithai and sweet shops (250 g to 2 kg)
Indian mithai and sweet shops should pack 250 g to 2 kg assortments in shallow square mailers (roughly 5 × 5 × 2 through 14 × 14 × 2 inch), choose white or colour for gifting seasons, and lock festive logo print early because 500-piece MOQs and 10-day lead times collide with Diwali demand.

Why shallow squares win
Sweets spread laterally, not tall. A deep cube leaves headspace that lets trays slide and icing smear. PackWorks mithai-oriented sizes stay wide and short so the tray or paper liner sits stable.
| Approx. pack | Start with (in) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 250–500 g | 5 × 5 × 2 / 7 × 7 × 2 | Single tray or small assort |
| 750 g–1 kg | 10 × 10 × 2 | Festive default |
| 1.5–2 kg | 13 × 13 × 2 / 14 × 14 × 2 | Check tray height vs 2 in depth |
Grease, smell and board
Oil migrates. Use a food-safe inner tray, butter paper or sealed liner — do not rely on raw corrugated as the food contact surface. White outers gift better; kraft is fine for wholesale transfers between kitchens. Colour mailers work for premium dry-fruit and festive drops when grease is controlled inside.
Festive ops
Diwali and wedding seasons exhaust both board and print capacity. Finalise sizes on plain stock first, run a two-week live test, then place flexo print (500 pcs per size, ~10 working days) before the rush. Keep plain emergency stock of the same die for overflow days.
- One printed hero size; plain backups in the next size up
- Tape lightly — over-taping looks industrial on gift boxes
- Monsoon weddings: bag the closed mailer for bike delivery
Where to shop
See the Mithai & Sweet Shop industry page for recommended sizes, then buy mailers or colour mailers in those footprints. Sample one size with your actual tray before ordering a festive print run.
